Our Lady of Gaultier

So the rich and famous just returned from French fashion week in Paris. Get a load of the newest trend:

Uh huh. That's right. Jean Paul Gaultier is responsible for this: Christian couture.

Ask yourself, WWMW? (What would Mary wear?)
Can't you just see our blessed mother wearing a blue silk slip?
Not to be outdone, Donatella Versace has created a men's wear line inspired by her favorite priest.
Father forgive me for I am FABULOUS!

Laugh if you want. I've got religious imagery all over my house. That 2nd dress is fabulous!!! And if the priest at my local parish looked like him, I'd have converted to catholicism by now.

Third picture down is a direct nod to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Not sure I'm getting the tears, though.

Gaultier's lines always look like they are designed for Madonna's next tour

I enjoy Catholic symbolism, art and imagery as much as the next person, Kookla. I just don't see what it has to do with fashion.

I kinda like them, from the artsy angle. And I like the 2nd dress. Not that I'd wear it, but at least they're interesting to look at. Sometimes they're just plain silly :)

Now I feel I need to go and pray or something :)

I want to look like a hot holy virgin! Think that will start selling at Target anytime soon?

I hope so Pruney!

I can't wait for the day I can say, "Pick me up a halo while you're at Target."

holy shit (ha!) that is crazy and ewwwwww. isn't that really blasphemous as well? although, the only religion in fashion, is fashion, i'd say. but still.... Please PLEASE!! don't let this become an actual trend.
